James D.
Adams is an experienced writer and literacy advocate for children and their families. He has worked in the classroom and the boardroom in the Head Start program. He also completed professional consultant training and a
business planning course through Ohio State University. James was a founding member of The Kerouac Society poetry group while at Ohio University and wrote and starred in the 1995 play “Welcome To Chilli Town” which was
performed at the Majestic Theater in Chillicothe. He also spent some time as the morning DJ on WCHI. He is a life long musician, mastering both the guitar and the drums, but still working on his piano chops. He spent 8 years in Band at Huntington School, where he served
as band president and section leader his last 2 years. He also starred in and won Best Actor in his Senior Class Play “The Phantom Strikes Again.” He spent over 8 years as a proud 4-H member
and. has written over 500 songs and 600 poems and is currently at work on his 3rd novel. Since then he has helped raise thousands of dollars for
Toys For Tots, Rock For Tots, Children In Distressed situations, the Literacy Foundation, Southern Hills Academy and Hurricane Katrina relief fund, as well as personally contributing
to over 8 environmental protection charities. From 2004-2007, he served as a literacy consultant with Scholastic Book Fairs and
trained over 150 librarians and PTO members to successfully manage their literacy events. In addition to this, James assisted over 200 schools in running over 1,000 book fairs and helped
put over 500,000 books in the hands of children. He now spends his time on his farm in Ohio, writing books for children from K-12 and adults, visiting schools and teaching creative writing |
